Dear Zend Studio... oh how I hate and love thee

April 18, 2006

Dear Zend Studio,
thank you for giving me a remarkable debugger to use which saves me countless hours during the day. Unfortunately, I hate that you make me wait 2 seconds before rending text to the screen. I hate your unusable slowness. I hate that I bought a beautiful mac with the amazing OSX GUI but you make me disable "OS LOOK AND FEEL" just so I can type in your lovely editor. It turns my lovely GUI into a 1980's screen shot of the first linux GUI ever made. Ohhh but your debugger, you minx. It's got me hooked and I can't give it up. I've tried the others and I keep returning to your sleek lines in the first 5 minutes when you actually work properly.

Love/Hate always,
Jim

Try dumping the POS Zend Studio and switching over to PHP IDE. It's gotten much better and is actually quite useable on OSX. I'm really happy with how well they have improved it in the past 6 months.

Dear Zend, Thankyou for giving me Zend tool which installs 1.8.4 when I use the new version and not telling me that certain books and tutorials ( e.g Zend framework in action) are useless with the new. God damn just when I think I get it, I don't (much to many online tutorials each having a billion ways of doing things instead of a standard straightforward practice) However im not giving up, even if I wake up tommorrow and you have released 2.0 and realise I have to start over.
